Bees as Pollinators: Their vital role to our food supply

CONSERVATION FIELD TRIP
Think Outside the Sink: Where does your wastewater go?
Members will have the opportunity to see two different ways that waste water is treated.
We will begin at the Village of Millbrook’s waste water treatment facility where Scott Osborne, VRI Plant Manager, will lead a tour and explain how water flows through the Village's system. We will then drive to Omega Institute in Rhinebeck and see the Eco Machine™ — a water reclamation system that cleans water by mimicking the processes of the natural world. The tour and talk will be led by Omega’s CEO Skip Backus.
Members are welcome to stay and have lunch at Omega following the tour.

Native Gardening and Biodiversity Matter
Doug Tallamy’s book, Bringing Nature Home, has sparked a national conversation about the link between healthy local ecosystems and human well-being. Development and subsequent habitat destruction increase pressures on wildlife populations, yet everyone with access to a patch of earth can take simple steps toward sustaining biodiversity. By acting on Doug Tallamy’s practical recommendations, everyone can make a difference.
