Our Members Speak about the Club

Interviews with two former Board Members:

The Garden Club of America has brought great joy to my life... Even though GCA leadership whether on the club, zone or national level is a full time job, it has to be one of the most fulfilling experiences. To learn on the job while having fun with the freedom to make mistakes and then the encouragement to correct them is unique. Individual achievements are recognized indeed but members of clubs are taught quickly that a member works for the greater glory of club not self.
— Arete Warren Zone III Board of Associates Interview with Linda Fraser

I was very involved with my club, the Millbrook Garden Club, and over the years, I worked at every job there was. Of course, we all did. We were a small but a very active club. Some of my responsibilities included serving as the Club Horticulture Chairman, the Garden History and Design Chairman, the editor of our newsletter, ‘Dig This’, the Membership Committee Chairman, the Corresponding Secretary, the President, and the Nominating Committee. The wonderful thing about being engaged in your club is the opportunity to accept new responsibilities and learn new things with each new task and building friendships
— Kathy Metz Member of the Board of Associates and the Second Century Campaign Steering Committee
